Green Thumb Sunday

Join
If you like, its going to be fun!!!!
Heres my first piccy for Green Thumb Sunday!

This is Fire Embers Grevillea, lovely little flowering ground cover, one of the last plants I procured for school for this year, as my budget is getting low. This Grevillea is worth growing for the flowers and I like ground covers as they help protect their neighbours from drying out too much! Not only that ,it has flowered continuelly for the last two months since being planted, with more buds coming!A close up photo of flowers would be handy so wil try to get that later!

Now this is my knitting blog but the Green Thumb has put this site as the main one to participate! So for knitting content, well it will just be on other days!!!!

Help

Well not now ,Hubby found it where the kids had been so good and cleaned up,they put it where I wouldn't have found it for eons.
I actually emailed The Wool Shack to ask if they had anymore copys but luckily for me having found mine, they had sold out!
Thanks heaps to those who offered the pattern/book! There are some wonderful peoples out there!
I am really desperate!
IN the morning rush this morning (at 4.30) I somehow mislaid my copy of Knitscene Fall 2006 which had the Central Park Hoodie pattern in it! Does anyone know of a stockist online( in Australia) where I may buy another copy, this pattern is the only one I will do in it, so it seems expensive to buy another and not just cut losses, but its an easy and comfortable cardie!
I checked The Wool Shack and sent them an email as it wasn't on their magazine list, bugger so it may be sold out!
Anyone out there have an idea?
I have looked everywhere but its vanished!!!!!but will keep looking anyway!!

This week!

I have been busy at work through the holidays,The sports oval had to be cut down with the whipper snipper while the assistant was hand mowing as the clover got away after the ride on mower lost a spring .It has just been fixed with the generous help of DH as I couldn't have got it on with my hands not being strong enough(thoratic syndrome is also giving me gip and the large ammounts of spinning I have been doing isn't helpling either!)!I owe big time there now.......(DH loves to have me in debt)..
At home the kids have been doing the house work each day so they had a good time with their extra pcket money in Kal on Thursday!
I have nearly finished the second sleeve to the CPH and anticipate that tommorrow during my break after we mow the school lawns...
The spinning wheel has been going all weekend with the Moody blue wool spun and plied(bought that months ago from Hawthorne Cottage) and have started on some Possum wool fromNew Zealand(DH has nick named it Possum twat fluff to which I retorted that he will be wearing it as a beanie next winter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
The Possum is verry felty on the bobbin and I suspect it will give me some trouble plying as the Ertoel Wheel is fast and you have to have your wits about you and quick to boot...
Today has been very cool and windy,I think its coming off the ice too as it has cooled off a lot since the sun went down, Winter PJ tonite as DH is back on night shift.
We have had a nasty couple of weeks here as member of my H crew was killed in a mine accident and it wasn't good as H was on the rescue team and knew him quite well(though I didn't have the pleasure of meeting him myself as he lived in Kal)
It was a shock especially for myself as I had had a feeling of dread the day before that awful feeling that something wasn't right)but had put it out of my mind.
Being my RDO and having spent it in Town shopping I didn't find out until a "friend " called me after school was out. After telling me a 43 year old had been killed at that mine and then waiting for that to sink in(DH is that age and I had been out of contact all day) proceeded to let me now it wasn't him.I could understand a friend wanting to know if we were ok but she never called back so the general concensus is that she was only after gossip....not only did she frighten me ,she also had called my oldest son(16) when he arrived home from work, asking questions about where his father worked, but he was not aware of the fatality until I arrived home he was the first to greet his Dad at the gate just to reasure himself Dad was ok....
I cannot bring myself to be anywhere near her and avoid running into her at school, keeping myself at the other end of school until the bell goes for I am not sure what to say,i also get the feeling however that she doesn't want anything to do with us anyway from her lack of contact! Dh was furious as the information leaked from the mine too early as well so hopefully there will be afew pineapples going places out there...
I just had to get this off my chest so I apologise if my ramblings are boring,I will be posting some piccies of spinning shortly to live page up and on other news I have been on the hunt for some Blue Faced Leicester top and by golly I found some.. a long way away but fairly cheap I think at moment so I am enjoying my little find, also some alpacca fleece maybe tripping to my front door too,I just love new fibre....

Sock time

Heres the sock that is slowly coming along(down to heel now) and I hope to finish it this week(and pigs might fly!!!) LOL
I will have heaps left over too,its a bit coarser than I would have liked but being a five ply its fairly quick and just thick enough to make boot socks for my elastic sides next winter!

And I am so excited, this lace weight arrived this week, the magazine with the pattern for Icarus will be here shortly from The Wool Shack in Perth...Heavon knows where I will find the time to do it but its waiting for me,

The skein is some merino that I spun this week to clear the bobbins so I could spin that alpacca silk and merino that I have been trying to get to for the last month(or two) Its spun too, only 100g boohoo... I have to get some more as I think I got around 110m in a 8 ply, out of the roving that I had to play with, so I will need at least another 100 to 150 g to make a scarf. Its a bit overspun in parts but I am quite happy with it and only when I knit it up will its true nature appear.... picture soon....

It didn't take them long...

Just looky at these, has anyone tried them yet? I am dying to find out! Fancy coming up with the idea in the first place!
I wonder if you could knit in the cinema!!!!
Went shopping yesterday and bought the last of the Panda 5 ply(we think, its not labled) to play with 8 balls in all,as all the new dyes have arrived along with 400g of Moorit fleece that has me looking everywhere for the rest of my treadly as it won't do to use the Ertoel wheel, too fast!!!!The fleece was supposed to be fresh of sheeps back but its a bit stiff so with the weather warming up,I wiil be able to put it out in the sun!
Its a sort of dark caramel to smokey colour,I missed the lovely caramel one but this has a long staple, 6 inch, so I am happy to play with it.I must find someone closer so I can 'class "it as it comes off baa baa.
The wheel I was dreaming of is the Ashford wheel and I like the idea of being able to fold it away and take it places to show people how spinning is done(had a lot of surprises looks when I prattle on about spinning, especially when I am expecting a parcel.....)

this looks interesting too,I was looking at the adds on the inteweave site this morning !its fromLittle Knits in Seatle which I gather is in the States,I am sort of dreaming about getting a skein just to try it ,it would be neat to give to one of the staff at school and tell them what it's made of, Sea Weed....Looks very interesting,if anyone has used it let me know what you think of it.isn't it fascinating what yarns can be made now.....

Late as usual

Beware Snakes below.......down further I mean!

I am posting another quickly as I really want to 'talk 'at the moment!
H has taken son no 1 to KAl to pick a parcel up that he left in the shop a week ago and to get some parts for his bike!
We went to Coolgardie for their annual Coolgardie Day on Sunday(great day out but I have been left with a disgusting house and no time for this week to do it) and he was included in a demo with the BMX team from Perth so his enthusiasm has been stoked up again!

This from our front door(picture me trying to hold back three energetic kids wanting to play, dog included) it was glorious.....lawns are really greening up now!Heres another one as it will most likely be the last we will see for a while!

I went looking at the New Knitty and have already picked what I want to do!The wrap which although a bit finer than I would normally knit looks gorgeous, Serrono looks interesting as does the scarfy thing! Lucy looks niccccceeee too, imagining it in some purple merino silk roving from Hawthorne cottage! Desicions......

Must finish other things too!

I have decided my next big purcahse is the fold up spinning wheel that I had the priviledge of looking at at my Auntys house three years ago.It folds up like a flat brief case and is intriguing. Not telling Hubby,he will have a fit!! He is building a Blow cart for us to use on Lake Lefroy for weekend jaunts.... If anyone knows anything about the spinning wheel ,could you let me know whatever about it? I am researching it at moment and all I can remember is the price tag!!! $500 abouts(a big secret this will be )....

He wasn't impressed when I told him how much Fluffas haircut was going to cost too..$120..need I say more!

I will leave you with a close up of a very young brown snake the boys decided to make a movie star before I made them take the poor thing out to the bush...

I thought I would try to draft a post this time and add to it !
There are photos to download but too lazy,I mean too tired to get up and go out to get the Card .

Above is the Geraldton Wax one of the recent aquisitins for my new garden out the front of the house, everything I have put out there at the moment is at least, looking happy!

I managed to get the( CP for the KAl) started and relised that my tension was abit tto stiff so hav undone at least 6 inches ,or should I say frog back to ribbing and started again with 5.5mm needles and already I can feel the difference!
It was softer,I used 5mm as the patern said to but I can't find the card from Bendigo Wool to see waht It says about the aran wool! Its Denim in colour and I thought this would be more ageless and suit my casual life style as well(though I have been told to book this time next year for the Races where Hats and the whole dress up bit will be th eorder of the day)! The photo is a bit dark but as usual the wool is very nice in person! And gorgeous to knit with.

I have however already planned the next colour if this pattern is good to me!

I need to finish one more Dishcloth so I can forward it to the lucky person! The garterlac was a bit confusing so am going to restart it when My DH is on night shift and stick it until its finished.I am not silly but I found the instructions a bit puzzling to follow so nee to keep on it .With that in mind I will try another pattern and leave the garter one till I have the brain space to follow it.

We are looking at doing up our house here but are also talking about only the basics so we can think about moving to Bendigo for a change.I am not very happy with my lot and there may be more opportunities for th whole family. However We are earning a very good income here, and one son is in the student council etc ,another is settled with his aid, though the others including the oldest may like the shift. We can't afford to move really, but a bag each?(mine will be massive as I will not leave my stash, sewing machine .......) Of couse the politician son re councilor wants to stay also because he is setting up his lizard thingy.... oh what to do.....This is my Tibouchia,I was told at the Nursery that it has a lovely smell...When it came out I was sad to find it has no smell, silly woman..maybe when its happier?

One of the plants that have moved to my place(I planted the other one and its doing well)

I am thinking of starting a garden blog as I am always collecting photos of flowers and bits that belong in one!

This is one of the latest dye jobs and although I wasn't happy as I was working on them I am happier now as they have been balled up!

The blue is Mulberry with Raspberry and the three toned on is Mushroom,Oak and Raspberry!

Since I enjoyed this little adventure I have gone on to order some more colours including black, pale blue and few more that I can't remember by name but i am hoping to try Beatlewears watermelon colour way!

The pale blue on the right is a dipped ball method and I am quite pleased with it though I would have liked a slightly darker tone, maybe if I skein it and overdye it with the blue that is coming from Hawthorne Cottage! Just a bit as I was trying to imitate a Cloud colourway that I saw on Dave Daniels ,its Cleckheatons Country and so soft to knit with. The mushy one is by the way a PAnda brand that came in 100g balls and although I haven't knited a swatch yet looks like a 5 ply so am keen to do apair of socks!

Thats it ,I have managed to save this to adjust for another time and it worked!!!! so I am off to finish cooking tea! I'll leave with a close up of the Tibouchia.....

I am adding some piccies as I didn't get around to it before, too tired and no time to do it when I was feeling on top of it(or near that)

First up is the gorgeous and very comfortable mittens that my secret Pal Anne sent to me!!! And many apologies for not putting this in earlier, they are just beautiful ,thank you Anne! And if you reading this, please put acomment on so I can visit you again as the other computor died and left me with very little records of all my online friends!!

And this is some Tapestry that I plan to make more of Annes mittens for some wonderful people I work with at school( the purple one I already have some for me and grabbed the last two balls because Cheryl at my LWS said they were very popular in that colour!!)

The Panda is interesting as I haven't seen these balls before ,all soaking ready to dye so can't remember full details but theres easily a sock per ball and it seems to be 5ply and is 100%Wool

I am curious about how it goes!

Gecko socks,I can't wait to start them but have too many UFOs so must finish a few first! The shop had heaps of bits and peices and I also found a split bead needle that I am dyeing(LOL) to use. There was also some crystals that one of my boys is rather keen on(he has High Function Autsm, and proneto collecting things) A bit of tiger eye and amethys for a couple of dollars each and he was delighted!

And here is the long awaited cotton from the Ebay shop in the USA,Peaches and creme is a dream to knit amd the sugar'ncream is lovely too(I really couldn't feel that much difference) I love it and am having fun with Dishcloth patterns,I can see a few reeling off for Xmas pressies.

My excuse for buying so much is that I was going to sell some here in Aussie to at least cover the post but its too hard to pick which ones, so am keeping them!!!!!!

Fluffa as she is now known, looking smug as she has been pooping on my lounge in between eating it.....naughty girl(I needed an excuse to start planning a new one!!!!!!!)
Dads has her on her back however reluctantly, look at her dirty feet, little grot, she will be getting a bath as soon as it warms up!
Its a gecko, not sure what he is,maybe a nob tail?
Heres another look at his tail, its a nobby tail, wouldn't you agree........

A little bit here and there

I was wiped out on tthe week end, just too tired, didn't even get to do any of the knitting spinning or dyeing either.
Now I made a start,Monday I did a lovely round dishcloth and Tuesday Another but in Alien green......I need to find a pattern like a flower,I saw one ,just have to look again, but me thinks that curiosity will have me looking at the garterlac from Jiminy Crikets (hope thats spelt right!
Lots of photos just have to download .....
I'm goin to try a draft this time and add photos later!
One thing though,I soaked my lovely white wool in vinegar thinking that would be okay to finally use the Gaywool dye and then I read the instructions and the method I want to use, says to squirt the ball with water with a bit of detergent in it then apply diluted dye(or something like that)
Am going to do some research... any ideas out there?
stay tuned....

A long Week

Its been along week, probably because the days are gradually getting longer even though the nights are still pretty cold(2 degrees on Thursday morning at around 6 am.My fingers were burning so mittens were the item that morning!
I have nearly finished my last Secret Pal gift and only have about 30 rows to go,not much you could say but getting to it as been an issue. Its going to be late but I will let her know so that she doesn't think shes been forgotten! I have been adding some goodies too as I think a little thought goes a long way.
I had a bit of fun at the LWS last Tuesday(Early knock off for the kids at school,2pm ) so dashed in to pay some bills etc! It was the worst day we have had for a while, strong winds, dust everywhere and I was starting to get very tired arms and hands from holding the car on the road! There was a little rain, enough to use the windscreen wipers coming home but we still had to water at school the next day.
Anyway,at the WS, I was able to pick up a couple of balls just incase I was called on to be an angel for a Secret Skein swap person and I discovered that Cheryl had stocked on Patonyle which by the time I got there wa nearly all gone! Apparently I am one of three persons who are constantly asking and buyingher sock wool.I am hoping She will be able to stock some more including Jigsaw!
The white perendale I will dye for a special gift One Skein SP if needed and a ball of Sulivans stuff that is a type of feathers ,and Cheryl pointed out it was a bit on the chemical nose abit! Pretty though and I haven't seen this brand before!

This a bundle is myStash Enhancing stuff!Yep thats the firts time I have said that,Stash Enhancer..... nice ring!

The green wasn't as lime as I would have liked but it'll do to get a start on the Dishcloth swap! And hopefully my order of Sugar n Cream/Peaches and cream will arrive soon!

I love the sock wool though, especially the soft pinky green one. I would like to see how the Patonyle wears compared to te coarser Opal, which washes up well but is rough to knit with!

This is my Last Secret Pal gift from Anne ,she put another ball of mauve perendale in the parcel s she thought I could use it ! Thanks Anne ,now I can knit a pair of ankle socks for me too,!!!!!

Stayed tuned for more piccies, the blogger is being a bitch tonite....................

Wow

I have just come back from Kalgoorlie where the kids had a heroic battle to lose to the CBC team but they were happy to have done so well! They're in the semi finals and this is the best year that the Kambalda team has had, so they have had a great year to date!
Anyway before ringing the relo's for a quick yarn I checked my blog as I am searching for that pattern,AND my Dishcloth Pal has reveiled herself,

ALASKA, all I can say is WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a way to find a pen friend( via computor), I am so excited and then the next thought I had was ,ohmygod!!! the post will take forever, then I remembered we do have air freight!!!
But how exciting to be involved in these swap thingys ,I am already thinking of what can I do that is Aussie flavoured.......

Barbara, I have already checked out your site ,so nice to meet you,and now I know you have visited, I shall keep all piccies of projects for The swap as a bigggg secret to keep it a surprise!!
And I shall endeavour to put some local photos in to show where I live etc!!
All I can say is WOW....................................

On the other hand I am expecting a lovely pressie from my secret Pal ,Anne, who couldn't keep quiet any more and ,surprise surprise!!!! I had visited her journal before and often too,its a small world! She had a piccie of the something coming my way(Well I presume) so its going to be wonderful week, I love parcels coming in the mail......And I will certainly be lining up next time too!
Sorry no knitting piccies,next time!!!!!

A lovely weekend

Hey I managed to get a Saturday Sky..........
Its a warm and definitely a spring feel. Now I could get cranky 'cause I haven't finished many things for me and am still going on others for gifts (which I don't mind as the appreciation is wonderful)
I haven't made it do any spining but if I can shift the boys along today I may get a play later.
On the Dishcloth swap,I have ordered the materials I would like to use, namely Sugar'n cream and alittle bit of Peaches and Creme and only because people rave about this stuff,as well as the fact there doesn't seem be much available locally (localLWS).
I do have a few links thanks to Shazza and they arre really good!
eco yarns
ozeyarn
crochetaustralia
I like the ecoyarns for the something really special but the crochet australian site looks pretty good too.I just had to be difficult and buy from the States!I have ordered a fair bit so might sell some to recoup the postage(air at $22 US)!!!!!!!
Its curious that no locals supplers have imported but like the sock wools it a shame that the local mills haven't caught with the overseas trends and supplied the Australian markets!I did look at the coats cotton in KMart but wasn't sure if the patterns I found on the net were 8 or 4ply (in our lingo)I think I saw someones comment that the US 4ply patterns are equivelent to our 8ply! Anyone know?
AND Look at this Box,how exciting (for me anyway,)all the way from Germany, the kids thought I was a bit strange but I have been waiting 3 months for them!!
Here they are in all their gloryand one of the Flamongos is yours, Shazza,to add to that collection you recieved last week! When I saw yours had a rrived ,I was thrilled as it meant mine wasn't far away!

And this is my latest sock purchase from Sweetfern on Ebay, based in Tassie! She is fantastic to deal with and best of all thats where I can find the Filatura di crosa 501 which I love knitting with! This time I also bought some My Lords nobbly yarn also for socks as she reackoned they were nice too! Sucker for new yarn but maybe I will have enough sock for me next year when warm comfy feet are really appreciated!

After reading my emails today, its a bit hard to keep up with them,as my DH has set up another computor in my bedroom as the kids were taking over the main one. He's experimenting with two hard drives in one tower .The problem is that if someone has turned on the other one in the lounge,I don't get my emails where I work on THIS computor.Anyhow ,apparently some people have not been really good with their Secret Pals ,so the organisers have asked for 10 Angels to come forward to help those who have missed out! I decided to put my name forward so now I have another person to knit a secret gift for as well.I had fun with first round ,haven't finished the gift for it yet but I will make it by skin of my teeth!

I have to go into Kal on Tuesday(DH decided at the last minute ,that he didn't want to pick kids up from school on Thursday past when I was going to finish work early at 12.30, fly in ,have a haircut ,pay some urgent bills and be back early enough not to be too tired on Friday.) Now I have to drag 4 kids in with me as he is on 24 hour break and the kids finish school at 2 pm and he has to sleep for night shift. They are going to be bored silly and I reackon by the time we get home I will have migrain,Men!!!!!!!

I will stick my recent philosophy, don't rely on them and you will know where you are at all times ,well most of the time anyway!!I was hoping to nip into the LWS and pick up the two balls/skeins and post them off quickly so I had time to work on a gift, maybe a lovely face wsher out of the Peaches and Creme that will hopefully arrive in time!

Anyway, here is Fluffa looking annoyed as we foiled yet another attempt to chew something she shoud not,she has already Buggered the lounge ! I hated it anyway and I 've hardly sat on it but I was hoping to get the kitchen done first!

Don't look at the pebbles she's left, she loves to have a play, usually first thing in the morning and again at night before being put to bed in her special night box,(where Tilly can't make dinner of her!) She has gaine dsome weight too ,so is a bigger bunny to when we picked her up!

See these lumps of dirt? this is the work of some dedicated BMX boys who needed some new jumps as the shire had flatterned the last lot!

Right I have to go ,lots of spring cleaning to do and not much time(translate,I have lost some valuable things and can't find them in the Storage room, aka, bedroom) wish me luck!

PS,does anyone know of a pattern for the padded coathangers that are usually seen on fete tables and CWA fund raising stalls, the usually soft acrylic is knitted horizontally up and over the wooden bit and few rows of knitting lace is knitted in on either side of the metal hanger, they are padded with craft padding and can be stuffed with pot pouri or something smelly! A long description but at least you get the picture !!!! I have looked at a few free pattern sites but haven't been able to find it yet!

Saturday, August 05, 2006

Hockey hasn't finished yet!

Hooray! they're in the semi finals! And that means more trips to Kal, Monday, and next Sunday and after that we will learn whether they have more games!
Now I love the enthusiasm they have but it means my days are becoming very full 16 hour days, and no weekends to unwind!!!! Meaning no knitting ,spinning, dyeing and general do as I would choose.....

There I have had a winge....it is fun to see them enjoy a sport though. And only a few more games!

Anyway,I have also joined a dishcloth swap hosted by The Procrastinator herself,so I am on the hunt to find some nice cottons.Thankfully the real heat won't start here till mid November so if I can get the cotton I really want quickly I will have them done. The Coats cottons at Kmart although resonably priced looked too hard so its off to Ebay to find a shop in America for the nice looking 'Sugar'n cream' 4ply and 'Peaches and Cream' ,the latter is supposed to be great for face washes!
I have sussed out some nice patterns including an entralac one that should be fun(have a look at the Dishcloth swap blog and follow links if interested!)

Work is picking at school as the warmer weather is beginning to show, though its still cool at night to the point we light the fire still! Fluffa(aka snuggles) has been naughty(during her nightly run of house) and loves chewing the cords and gets very cranky when removed from her chewy bits! She actually thumped the floor with back feet when I took her away from our lounge which looks like a big rat has been there andwas most indignant when she found her access blocked. The lounge is getting old anyway but I want to get the kitchen done first so it has to last a bit longer(though no one sits on it most of the time as its always full of laundry)!
On the knitting front,I have finished one sock for a friend in hand dyed corredale and started a gift for my Secret Pal!

This was the second Skein from my Secret Pal with a fluffy ball and a nice lavendar Perrendale wool,it looks like I will get a pair of ankle socks,I finished these this morning but have since frogged it back as I tried it on and it was very short so I am going to add 5 more rows.I have a size 8 to 9 foot and I wouldn't mind betting the lucky recipient has a small foot but as I didn't add a few extra rows under fluffy bit it will need length to compensate! This wool has been eyed off by a few friends and lucky enough I have 4 balls put away so I will be garranteed of a pair for ME!!!!! My Secret Pal is so lovely and intuitive to send such a gorgeous colour(everyone wants it!) that'll teach me to show everyone!

Well I have too much to do, so I'm off to try get on top of a bit before I run out of time!

Sunday sky

I missed the Saturday sky so heres a Sunday shot, very misty fog that has everything damp and quite cool.......spinning,knitting and reading knitting books weather.........its going to be a good day!!!

Its a bit dark but seriously no sun was getting through!

We went bush walking last weekend as the boys wanted to show me where they went to look for lizards(and snakes) and I wanted to know so I could get to them quickly in case of an accident /snake bite!

This is female (the boys assured me) Western Netted Dragon who was not happy having her Sunday disrupted, but she ordered us off regally from up on a rock near her hole after the fashion shoot!

Lookie what arrived in the mail this week, can't wait to spin it(once I empty the bobbins thats of the merino I was working on ages ago). Its merino alpacca and silk,it feels devine, soft and silky. There was a purpley one too but it went very quickly and the seller is waiting for more to come in!

Now I must go to do some house work etc and get the wheel out for a play!

The end of holidays

I have enjoyed these holidays, although I had to work right through, there was no need to make recesses and lunches up for 4 kids(two really, but sometimes they were running behind) ,and work was more relaxed with no staff or students to plan work around!
On the knitting front I got a sock finished and ready to start another pair for variety,
These are Hawthorne Cottage corredale 8 ply handdyed by me.I used a pattern that I found on one of the free sock pattern sites using Cleckheatons country 8 ply.Its a great pattern and this is my second pair using it.The next lot I will be using a basic 8 ply ,simple and straight forwardas I found the constant 2 x 2 rib was a bit hard on my hands and arms especially with the Thoratic problems. Also with these socks the person I'm doing tem for wanted ankle type socks for house slippers.Heres a close up of the sole where I used the heel method of slip every second st every second row to form a nice warm padded effect!
You can see how the colour patterns were disrupted.I'm pleased with these though, easy adn best of all the recipient is happy too.
This the 2nd secret Pal parcel to reach me!!!!!! Not really sure yet what I will do withit but sort of thinking of a curly whirly type scarf and lucky for me I have 4 more of the mauve so I might enough to do something a bit more substantial. But besides the yarn, look at the card,I looked everywhere for a cute knitty card and end up putting in a lovely floral one which is intended to be a hint to who I am..... Anyway.. a big thank you to Anne who let me in on her name with the first parcel and really, how can you send a parcel without the return address ,or am I just being old fashioned... can't wait to find out about Anne ,who she is and all that,I know she reads this journal,so I hope shes enjoying a read and hopefully a laugh!!!!!
This the first of two books that I ordered from The WoolShack just because! And I'm pleased I did as there are heaps in there that I will/would like to do,,,,,,too many in fact!!!!!
This vest is one and if you want to see more check it out on the Woolshack site as you can see whats in each book before buying!

The other book is the Knitscene Mag that has the Kal Pattern That I am starting in I think September! I would really like to do it in a deep sapphire blue but being a Aran pattern,10ply is hard to find and economical as well. I will probably buy the wool from Bendigo as it will be cheaper, sorry, economical. It looks like it will have to be a sort of darkish denim.Pretty though according to a best friend and I agree if thats the way I will go!!
I think I will make this in a larger than 'me' size so I can add toggles down the front, more wearable then for me any way.Otherwise I will look Graany like hugging the jacket across the front!I am so enthused this pattern that I'm also toying with the 'cheap'yarn from KMart. Its fun to look at all the alternatives from overseas too!I don't want to spend too much as I still have my eye on some Lornas laces..........
Look at what THE DOG did to my sock!(it had no needles in it when I found IT) Its back in order now butI was worried at first!!!!I think she was jealous of the Bunny!

Well it looks like the blogger has had enough and wants out,so that'll be it for tonight!!!!
