ReplyDeleteMy Dad grew the most amazing peace rose. It always had blooms on it except in the middle of winter. When I was young, the original Swanes nursery was at the bottom of our street. When they moved away from the nursery and the home, dad was told he could take anything from the garden that he wished as the place was going to be bulldozed. He took dozens of roses as Swanes specialised in them and later grew them at Narromine in western NSW.
Ben Swane, still alive but in nineties I guess developed many roses here and dad later found himself again near the nursery. They've now been taken over.
I remember going past Swanes near Narromine and wishing I could visit, the peace rose I think is one of the best, heavy multi petalled bloom gorgeosu colurs and rich thick green leaves! Your dads so lucky!!
ReplyDeleteThe quilts are beautiful, along with the roses and card, Mum will love it. Well done. Pics with the camera are amazing :)
